Company History

1948 June Established as YAMADA Electric Manufacturing. Started production and sale of pressure switches and float switches.
1952 Nov Changed organization to YAMADA Electric Manufacturing Ltd. Capital: 350,000 yen.
1953 Apr Started production and sale of burnout protectors for small single-phase motors and thermostats.
1957 May Started production and sale of floatless liquid level control relays.
1958 Aug Converted to YAMADA Electric Mfg. Co., Ltd. Moved headquarters due to an increase in business. Increased capital to 5 million yen.
1964 Feb Completed Inuyama Plant and relocated some assembly lines and press sections.
Apr Started production and sale of burnout protectors for small three-phase motors.
Oct Entirely rebuilt Headquarters factory.
1965 June Developed electric motor protector.
Oct Started production and sale of push-button switches.
1966 Dec Increased capital to 50 million yen.
1967 Apr Started production and sale of thermal overload motor protectors.
1969 Feb Completed the second enlargement of the Headquarters factory.
Apr Moved Inuyama Plant to its current location (Sakurakaido).
1972 Jan Built a separate building at the Headquarters factory and started production and sales of control panels.
1973 June Expanded upon Inuyama Plant.
1976 Aug Established mass production system of centrifugal motor start switches (developed in 1970). Increased capital to 80 million yen.
Dec Increased capital to 100 million yen.
1978 Jan Developed world’s first large capacity (22kw) thermal overload motor protector.
Aug Started full-scale production and sale of low temperature thermostats.
1979 June Developed PTC starting relay combined with thermal overload motor protector.
Developed water suspension relay.
1982 Feb Developed pressure switch for air compressors.
June Provided technical assistance to S.U.E. (Thailand), including exporting thermal overload motor protector production equipment.
1983 Apr Developed thermal overload motor protector for automotive compact DC motors.
Oct Developed PTC adapted delay relay.
1984 Apr Developed vacuum switch.
Aug Developed self-hold overheat protector.
1985 June Developed reed switch pressure sensor.
1986 June June Developed photoelectronic pressure sensor.
1987 Sept Developed CP type small electric current protector.

1989 June Enlarged Inuyama Plant to extend the thermal overload motor protector production line.

1990 Nov Developed combination sensor for pumps. Established YAMADA ELECTRIC MFG. (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. As an overseas production base.
1991 Aug Provided technical assistance to the Republic of Belarus (former Soviet Union), including the exportation of thermal overload motor protector production equipment.
Dec Developed microcomputer pump control unit.
1992 June Developed new rotary switch for air conditioners. Provided technical assistance to the Republic of Russia, including the exportation of thermal overload motor protector production equipment.
1993 Feb Built the new Headquarters building in its current location.
March Developed electronic starting relay.
May Developed reversible governor switch.
Dec Developed bubble-type water level control device.
1994 June Developed voltage drop detecting relay.
Sept Officially commended by the Minster of Labor for active employment of disabled people.
1995 March YAMADA MALAYSIA plant selected for inspection by the Chubu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry`s Overseas Business Development Project; receives high evaluation.
Apr Developed pressure sensor for inverter pumps.
1996 Jan Won the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Research Institute Award. March Developed start/control integrated pressure switch.
March Developed start/ normal control integrated pressure switch.
Apr Received the Science and Technology Director Award for developing fail-sale multifunctional thermal overload motor protector. Developed humidity-resistant pressure sensor.
Dec Developed overcurrent relay for package air conditioners.

July Developed new thermal overload protector for temperature- and CFC gas leak-detecting multifunctional air conditioners. Developed electromagnetic flowmeter.
